Wake Social Services Foster Children Christmas Project update:
   Thanks to all!
The foster care project was a wonderful success for our congregation.  Our youth sorted our donations and filled 8 backpacks with paper, binders, pens, and crayons.  They  also created 16 bags of toiletry items complete with combs, brushes, toothpaste and toothbrushes, crayons, and paper.  We also donated 20 stuffed animals, 3 blankets, and 2 bags full of pencils and miscellaneous toiletry items.  A few toys were included, as well!  Thanks to everyone for brightening the life of a foster care child, just when they need it most.     (These donations are given by Wake Social Services to foster kids when they are removed from their home and placed in foster care.)

January 29, 2012:
Unitaritan Universalist PEACE Fellowship adopted the following Statement of Conscience:
"We, the Unitarian Universalist PEACE Fellowship, affirm justice, equity and compassion in human relations, and the inherent worth and dignity of all persons.

We affirm the basic right of same-gender couples to marry and to share fully and equally in the rights, responsibilities, and commitments of civil marriage.

In the absence of this right to marry, we resolve to oppose any law, policy, or practice that limits the recognition of same-gender couples’ relationships and families and any related rights and protections. We are especially called to oppose any attempt to enshrine such discrimination into the North Carolina Constitution.

We further resolve that we will respect and protect same-gender couples and their families by raising awareness of the discriminatory effects of any proposed laws or constitutional amendments and taking other actions to defeat them."
